- Winners announced!
Series Winner – GARY ANNETT / Uni of Melbourne Business and Economics
![]()
The judges were impressed with the technical excellence and thoughtful approach of the winning series. Composition and point-of-view are very strong and show the location in an extremely flattering way. A special mention to the first entry: a unique perspective on an often-seen architectural feature.
Detail Winner - WILLIAM WATT
/ Orica Building -Link to image
This winning entry is a beautifully executed image that show a great deal of forethought; the composition, light and use of depth-of-field make this image incredibly striking. It is a very different approach to a category that can often offer clichés, but this image manages to think outside the square.
People/Crowd Winner - ANGIE MUCCILLO
/ Athenaeum Library -Link to image
This image was a clear standout in a very high quality field of entries. It shows a quirky sense of humour, lovely composition and sympathetic use of light, not to mention capturing an essence of humanity in the space, as it was intended to be used. Many of the other commended images in this category were also very strong in many of these areas also.
Exterior Winner - KEN NG
/ Council House2 -Link to image
In the absence of many strong exterior images, the judges felt the images that best represented the theme were more abstractions than literal exterior images. The winning image shows a strong sense of composition and light, showing the strength of the building design. It would have been nice to see more technically solid exterior shots in this category this year.
Interior Winner - PIETRO GIORDANO
/ Federation Square -Link to image
Once again, the Winning Interior image was the best from among strong competition. This image captures the essence of the interior space of Federation Square perfectly, with strong composition and use of light creating a real sense of place.
